3 Tips For a Happy Marriage

August 16, 2020 by Annie

You’ve probably heard before that marriage is a lot of work. The truth is that when you choose to make a life long commitment to someone, you’ll have good times and bad times. However, that doesn’t mean that you can’t be happy overall. There are some tricks to help you manage the rough patches that come along with marriage so that you can come out the other side together as a couple.

It’s entirely possible to experience difficult times and still love each other immensely. The trick is to know how to weather the storm without letting yourself get carried away. Here are some of the best tips for a happy marriage that stands the test of time.

Make An Effort On Your Appearance

For some people, your outward appearance may seem like a shallow concern. However, when you look at it from an alternative perspective, making an effort on your appearance is a way of showing your partner that you’re making an effort for them.

Reminding your partner that you still care what they think is an important part of making your marriage last long term. Don’t forget that you should be practicing basic hygiene every day, as well as getting out of your pajamas. Don’t forget to put on a suit once in a while and look your best. Your partner will appreciate it.

Be Honest

One of the biggest reasons that people get divorced is because of dishonesty. Studies show that when you lose trust in a relationship, it’s the fastest way to end in divorce. Trust is everything when you are in a relationship. It’s important that you are always upfront with your partner.

Even small stretches of the truth, also known as “white lies” can create a significant distance between the two of you. It’s important that you don’t hide things from each other. Knowing that you can completely trust each other makes a world of difference in how long your marriage will last.

Have Friendships Outside Of Your Marriage

Even though your spouse may be the person that you enjoy spending the majority of your time with, It’s important that you foster your outside relationships. Spending time with your other friends outside of your relationship is a critical part of staying together.

A little distance is important in order to keep the romance alive. If you’re constantly around each other, you’ll forget what it’s like to miss each other. Always make sure to give each other a little space in order to keep the magic alive between the two of you.

By following these tips and trying to stay patient and compassionate with your partner, you should have better chances of staying married and being happy together for years to come.

About Me

Hi! I'm Annie and I have 3 kids (all in their teens - yikes!). My mommy blog isn't all about lunches and DIY - it's also about humour. Like how my kids make fun of my texts as if I don't know how to use emojis (I DO!). Now that I have a bit more time - since my kids don't want to hang out with me (teenagers), I have taken up blogging.
