The benefits of physical activity for our kids

April 6, 2022 by Annie

We as parents have learned many things during this current pandemic and one of them is that fitness is the key and overweight kids are more prone to sickness because their immune systems are weaker. We now live in a very digital world and while that comes with many advantages, it comes with many disadvantages as well. Our kids are no longer going outside into the fresh air and the sunshine, and they are spending too much time indoors playing video games and surfing the web on their smartphones. This has led to a nation of immunocompromised children and we as parents have been handed the baton of responsibility. It is up to us to no longer accept the easy way out of putting our kids in front of the television or handing them our smart phones just to keep them quiet.

If your kid is physically fit then they lead a much healthier lifestyle and they feel better within themselves. It can be quite difficult finding them an alternative to an exciting video game, but purchasing a trampoline from Web and Warehouse is going to provide you with an excellent way to distract your kids from their digital world. We as adults get excited when we get the opportunity to jump on a trampoline so you can imagine how young kids are going to feel. This is one excellent way to keep our kids more physically active and you shouldn’t have to be sold the benefits as a parent, but if you need reminding then here are some of them.

  • A stronger heart – Like any other muscle in your child’s body, the heart needs to be strengthened and challenged by doing regular exercise and keeping your kid healthy. A strong heart helps a great deal to keep off heart disease later on in life and many kids nowadays suffer from poor heart health because of the sedentary lifestyle that they lead.
  • More efficient lungs – If your kids are jumping up and down on a trampoline for most of the day, then they are working their lungs hard and so the lung capacity increases as a direct result. This means that more oxygen can get into the body and carbon dioxide and other toxins can be breathed out. As your kids get older, their ability to take in more oxygen reduces naturally and so anything that you can do as a parent to prevent this decline is to be embraced.

Many kids now have high blood sugar levels due to the amount of fast food and sweets that they consume every single day. By getting your kids out on the trampoline and into the sunshine, the muscles will use up all of this glucose as energy and so this can reduce your child’s risk of developing diabetes significantly. If you were to look around you right now on the high street, you would see kids that have been diagnosed as clinically obese and if you don’t want your child heading in this direction then get them outside and jumping on a new trampoline today.

About Me

Hi! I'm Annie and I have 3 kids (all in their teens - yikes!). My mommy blog isn't all about lunches and DIY - it's also about humour. Like how my kids make fun of my texts as if I don't know how to use emojis (I DO!). Now that I have a bit more time - since my kids don't want to hang out with me (teenagers), I have taken up blogging.
