Top Tips to Increase The Value of Your Home

December 18, 2019 by Annie

Now I would buy no means consider myself one of the experts when it comes to selling your home, but having moved 4 times in California in the last 8 years alone, I feel that I am certainly qualified to offer you some tips on how to boost the value of your home, and increase its desirability to buyers. Putting your home on the market as it is right now is not a good idea and in doing so you may well find that you have to wait a long time for someone to be interested. To avoid this, try out these tips which will make your home more appealing and which could even add some value.

Home Warranty

When people want to move into a property they want protection against things going wrong such as household appliances and you can tap into that with a home warranty plan. Companies like First American Home Warranty allow you to transfer their plans from one person to another and research has shown that you are 16% more likely to sell your home if you can offer a home warranty. When you compare plans be sure that you get full protection, good customer service and that you read customer reviews to make sure that you can offer the buyer the very best cover.

Kitchen Upgrade

Updating your kitchen may seem like a big and expensive job but in doing so you can massively increase your chances of getting a sale. Not only this, you will also see your home rise in value for more than you have invested in the kitchen. We are seeing more and more that home buyers want a home that is ready to live in and they don’t want to have to think about taking on a major project such as the kitchen. Invest now and you’ll reap the rewards when you sell the property.

Curb Appeal

One of the easiest and most impactful changes which you can make to increase your chances of selling the home is called curb appeal. This is the first thing that the buyer will see when they roll up to your home and this first impression is really worth its weight in gold. To give a better first impression, update the front garden, buy a new door and garage door and you may even want to give the roofing a look over, and replace it if it looks tired. As they say, you only get one chance to make a good first impression, so be sure that the buyer is blown away when they arrive.

Fixings

Another easy thing to do in the how which will increase the speed at which you sell it is to look at the details and fixings around the home and replace them. Light switches, socket covers, skirting boards and handles are all small details which actually make a big difference to how people will feel in your home, update them and increase your chances of making a sale.

Simple tricks which have big benefits.

About Me

Hi! I'm Annie and I have 3 kids (all in their teens - yikes!). My mommy blog isn't all about lunches and DIY - it's also about humour. Like how my kids make fun of my texts as if I don't know how to use emojis (I DO!). Now that I have a bit more time - since my kids don't want to hang out with me (teenagers), I have taken up blogging.
