How to Pack For a Move

If you’re in the process of purchasing a new home or have signed a lease on a new property, you may be in the process of preparing for your upcoming move. Pack items together which belong in the same room:

One way to make unpacking a breeze is to pack items together, which belong in the same room. As an example, you may want to pack all your kitchen utensils and appliances in the same boxes. While you may want to pack all of your stationary and computer supplies in a box which contains all of your home office’s supplies.

Mark all of your boxes carefully:

If you pack your boxes based on their rooms, you can simply write the name of each room, on top of each of your boxes. Which is a great idea as your movers will be able to leave all of your boxes, in the right moves. Once they’ve transported all of your possessions from your current house to your new property. Which will make it a lot easier to start unpacking and sorting your belongings.

As if you leave your boxes unmarked your movers may leave all of your boxes in your home’s foyer or lounge. Which means that you’ll have to open each box to find out which room it belongs in and that you may have to lug heavy full boxes around your new property. Which can be a pain if you live in a house with multiple floors.

Alternatively if you don’t want to pack each box based on which room it belongs in, simply write all the items inside your box on the side of your box. As an example, you may want to note that there’s cleaning products and bathroom products in a particular box.

Make sure that items can’t move around inside your boxes:

If items move around your boxes they may break. Especially if your mover has to put their foot on the brakes to avoid hitting a pedestrian or car, which takes them by surprise. Some examples of items which you can use to ensure that boxes are fully packed include bubble wrap and foam based peanuts.

Move expensive items such as jewellery yourself:

In order to make sure that you don’t lose or damage small expensive items like jewellery, opt to move them yourself.
