Overview
Set high in the mountains 200 miles east of San Francisco, on the borders of Nevada and California, Lake Tahoe has the United States’ highest concentration of resorts, with seven cross-country and fourteen downhill centers. It is a very beautiful region, ideal for visiting a different area each day, driving around on a tour, though the major mountains are worth devoting a few days each to. All the ambiguous adventures may seem interesting at first, but once you see the large Incline Village, you’ll agree that it’s worth the stop. The census-designated place of Incline Village-Crystal Bay, or simple Incline Village, is part of Nevada’s Washoe County. The community has become a magnificent place for skiing, with slopes everywhere you look and magnificent lake views.
Tourist Attractions
The community’s best attractions are easily its resorts. The resorts are not fully fledged ones as in the European counterparts. Most of the areas attract day trippers or weekend vacationers. For example, Kirkwood is known for its uncrowded slopes and steep runs. It also has a new mountain village and groomed trails. A recreation center, spa, sun deck, and ice rink can be seen on site. Squaq Valley features a superb beginner area and Funitel gondolas. Alpine Meadows has some of the region’s most varied terrains. Mount Rose is great for carving, while Diamond Peak has breathtaking views. Queues are rare, except in peak weekends.
Best Hotel Accommodations
Spending a few days at each end of the lake is highly recommended. Regular Tahoe customers highly suggest some hotels found in Incline Village, which also has several restaurants and bars. The community is renowned for its ambience, country charm, and friendly people. Incline Village is handy for Mount Rose and Diamond Peak skiers. The Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, Casino, and Spa has it all. Nestled within the breathtaking Sierra Mountain Range, the hotel itself sets the standards for a year’s load of pampering. Tourists are offered opportunities to tempt lady luck in the casino, or cruise one of many private boats. Book your Incline Village Hotels with Reservations.com.
When to Visit
The village’s name comes as somewhat deceiving, as in all honesty, Incline Village is not at all flat. Named after the Great Incline Tramway, the village has a genteel approach to lakeside life and has some of the region’s most relaxing beaches. Although the ski village is in peak season during the winter, the region’s summer features Sand Harbor’s Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival. Theatergoers all flock to watch the festivities. Summer is also a time for mountain bikers to get their much-awaited practice, with several screamers down the challenging Flume trail. The casino gaming, typical of Nevada, is available year round.
Things to Do
The choice of slopes around the lake is enormous, with more than enough to keep even the keenest boarder and skier happy for a couple of weeks. With a car you can make the best of the weather, heading for sheltered areas when a storm socks in, for example. Incline Village has great vertical drops and slopes to suit all standards and splendid lake views. Sierra-at-Tahoe offers spaces for easy cruising and has a few mogul fields.
