3 Tips For Designing Your Perfect Kitchen

November 30, 2020 by Annie

Whether you’re building an entirely new home for yourself or you’re simply redesigning the kitchen area of your current house, there are a lot of things to consider when laying out how your kitchen should be configured. While different people are going to have different needs and desires for their kitchens, there are some common themes and principles that every kitchen should employ.

Thankfully, there are many ways to make your kitchen better, from range hoods to sinks, and not all of them has the potential of breaking the bank. Let’s look at some of the best methods.

Remember the Kitchen Triangle

Every kitchen is going to have a sink, a stove, and a refrigerator. The trick with these items is to put them together in the right way so that they maximize efficiency in your kitchen.

To do this, Andreea, a contributor to MyMove.com, recommends that you think about setting up your kitchen with the triangle configuration. This means that your sink, fridge, and stove should all be connected in a triangle pattern. By not having anything get in the way of your sink, stove, and refrigerator, like your island or anything else, you’ll ensure that you’ll have easy access to all of these areas as well as the counter space that you need to make the most use of these areas.

Choose Storage That Meets Your Needs

Because different people are interested in making different kinds of foods, experimenting in different ways, and have various appliances and kitchen accessories to store, every kitchen’s storage needs are going to be a little different. So before you choose how much storage space you need, first think about what kind of storage you should have.

According to Lucy Searle, a contributor to RealHomes.com, some people want to have deep drawers so they can stack their kitchen items. On the other hand, some people prefer cabinets with shelves so they can easily see everything they have. Whatever option you choose to go with, make sure it will accommodate the kitchen items you currently have and the additional items you plan on getting in the future.

Keep The Right Items Close To The Sink

The two main priorities for your kitchen should be cleanliness and safety. Because of this, you should really consider what items you keep close to the sink when designing your kitchen.

Ideally, Maggie Burch, a contributor to HouseBeautiful.com, recommends that your kitchen should have a trash can and knives near to the sink. This will allow you to cut whatever food you need and then discard what’s left without having to walk all around your kitchen with your refuse or your sharp knives.

If you’re going to be rethinking your kitchen space soon, or creating a brand new kitchen space in your home, consider using the tips mentioned above to help you come up with the perfect area for your needs.

About Me

Hi! I'm Annie and I have 3 kids (all in their teens - yikes!). My mommy blog isn't all about lunches and DIY - it's also about humour. Like how my kids make fun of my texts as if I don't know how to use emojis (I DO!). Now that I have a bit more time - since my kids don't want to hang out with me (teenagers), I have taken up blogging.
