How to Minimise The Effects of Skin Cancer On Your Body

April 6, 2020 by Annie

Skin cancer is one of the most probable reasons for Australia’s concern. Did you know that 2 out of every 3 Australians would have skin cancer at least once in their life? These are scary statistics and cannot be ignored.

You can often spot the signs of skin cancer early. This requires a thorough examination and regular monitoring of your own skin. Self-diagnosis can be done by paying special attention to any new or abnormal moles or warts on your skin. Any mole that is constantly changing its colour, shape or size is worrisome. It may not always be cancer, but if you consult a good dermatologist, they would be able to solve the puzzle out for yourself.

A dermatologist may even recommend a visit to a suitable radiologist, who would further conduct imaging scans on your body to analyse the stages of cancer. We recommend you only go for experts & visit the website, to ensure that you get the right treatment at the earliest.

You could opt for various treatments to minimise the effect of skin cancer on your body.

Radiotherapy: This form of treatment involves exposing the affected body parts to mainly- focused energy beans. This could also include low-frequency x-ray beams and specific high frequencies, which are intended to kill the cancer cells. Radiologists claim that these energy radiations do not have any ill effects on the healthy cells of the body.

Chemotherapy: This line of treatment makes usage of anticancer agents are chemicals to treat the affected cells. In this treatment, certain agents can also be induced in your bloodstream, or they could be applied on the skin as anticancer creams or lotions. It has been found that chemotherapy leads to loss of weight or hair; you would be advised on the side effects of any treatment well in advance before you begin.

Immunotherapy: This therapy aims at improving the natural immunity of your body, which is required to fight the cancer cells and their growth. In this therapy, doctors would advise the most healthy lifestyle for your body. They would also be regularly inducing immunity-boosting chemicals in the patient’s body to improve their immunity artificially.

Various other treatment forms can help doctors remove skin cancer from your body at an early stage. For example, Mohs surgery. In Mohs surgery, the doctor uses excisional surgery to remove the affected cells layer-by-layer. Mohs surgery is very helpful in cases of Melanoma when cancer has spread across various levels of the skin. Cryosurgery is also another useful technique. The liquid nitrogen is very useful to freeze off cancer itself and later removed from the body of the patient with the help of an excision. Excisional surgeries are also an alternative mode of treatment for patients suffering from epidermal cancers. A simple excision is performed on the affected epidermis, and the cells are removed from the skin.

Depending upon the extent to which cancer has spread in your body, the doctor would recommend different treatment options. Accordingly, you can then choose from the various options available to you depending on your budget, lifestyle, and health.

However, please be informed that cancer still has no cure and especially when it comes to such deadly diseases, prevention is better than cure. We suggest you do not step out in the sun without adequately providing your skin with a good protective cream or covering up with clothes. The most probable cause behind skin cancer is the harmful ultraviolet rays that are all around us, so ensure that your skin is always safeguarded against them.

Stay healthy!

About Me

Hi! I'm Annie and I have 3 kids (all in their teens - yikes!). My mommy blog isn't all about lunches and DIY - it's also about humour. Like how my kids make fun of my texts as if I don't know how to use emojis (I DO!). Now that I have a bit more time - since my kids don't want to hang out with me (teenagers), I have taken up blogging.
