Common Mistakes When Buying a Water Filter

February 25, 2021 by Annie

These days, many people are much more conscious regarding their well-being. However, not many are aware that wellness starts at home. From the food we eat to the water we drink, it all affects our health. When it comes to water consumption, we should all aim to be more cautious and use the right filtration system to ensure that it is clean and safe.

Due to the overwhelming number of water filters available on the market, purchasing a water filtration system for your home can be difficult. It is crucial to consider various factors to make sure that you are getting your money’s worth. Here are some of the common mistakes people make in getting their water filters.

Buying Water Filter With Insufficient Capacity

The most common mistake homeowners make is purchasing a water filtration system that has an insufficient capability to serve the whole house’s flow rate. Using filtration systems with a smaller capacity will work for a short while, making the filter clog quickly, leading to faster deterioration and requiring more frequent maintenance.

Relying on Personal Recommendations

While it is significantly helpful to consider product recommendations from friends and colleagues, it is often not enough. You should also consider online product review sites, such as waterfilterauthority.com, as they are less biased when comparing various components and characteristics of the water filtration system you have at home. Remember, your water filter should be well-suited to your needs, and what your friends and family may recommend may not exactly work for you.

Purchasing a Water Filter By Brand

Brand names may be a factor to consider when buying a water filter. However, it should not have more weight over the other considerations that you should have. So much has changed in the consumer industry, and people can no longer trust a product based on the brand name alone. It pays to be open to other new brands that may offer innovative solutions that may be more suited to your water filtration requirements.

Equating Price to Quality

A common misconception many have is that price is representative of quality. With water filtration systems, however, this is no longer the case. It is now all about having what works for you and your family. The key to preventing such mistakes is having a clear understanding of purification systems, how they work, what should be needed, and what fits your requirements.

Skipping Water Testing

Most of us are eager to install water filters for our homes but without considering water testing. The process will determine if your water supply has contaminants that can be dangerous to your health. This is a necessary procedure that would let you decide what type of filtration system you need for your water supply. You will need a reputable, certified water specialist to do laboratory water analysis, which will convince you of the value of your home’s water filters.

Failing to Buy a Filter System

Perhaps the biggest mistake is not buying a water filtration system at all. It is understandable if you may think that the myriad of products can be confusing and overwhelming. However, it should not be an excuse for not buying one. Remember, it would be in your family’s best interest, particularly of your kids, if they can consume clean water. If you can’t afford one, go for the simplest one rather than not having one at all.

Now that you know the common mistakes when buying a water filter for your home be careful not to commit them. It is the least that you can do for your family.

About Me

Hi! I'm Annie and I have 3 kids (all in their teens - yikes!). My mommy blog isn't all about lunches and DIY - it's also about humour. Like how my kids make fun of my texts as if I don't know how to use emojis (I DO!). Now that I have a bit more time - since my kids don't want to hang out with me (teenagers), I have taken up blogging.
