Night time Fun for Parents

August 5, 2020 by Annie

Being a new parent is daunting, with such a precious bundle to take care of you could find things a little overwhelming; learning to switch off is a great tool to have in your armoury.

Routine is vital, but it is too strict to allow for a comfortable life for everyone, so a balancing act is required. Lots of sleep for little ones and lots of play for parents.

Get this balancing act sorted and you’ll find it promotes better mental and physical health for everyone; so that your children can charge their batteries for another day of chaos, and you can wind down and enjoy that glass of wine or some downtime and perhaps even enjoy your favorite Wildz casino daily free spins ensure you get to play again and again

Let’s take a look at some tips that will help strike that all-important balance.

Routine

Having a good bedtime routine has more benefits than you might know. It helps your children develop both physically and mentally and, once established, and their little bodies will adapt by releasing the correct sleeping hormone at the right time – well, we hope it will.

It’s also true that being ‘off duty’ is essential for parents, by creating a routine you can factor in your downtime.

Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff.

Don’t stress. ‘Easier said than done’, I hear you say. Getting rid of bad sleeping habits will take patience and time, but it will be so worth it for you and your baby. Remember it’s never too late to fix bad habits: so get started and trust the process.

Stick to the routine, and you will see the changes. It can do nothing but good for your relationship with your children, and your confidence will improve when you go out as you know that you don’t have a troublesome tot that needs constant care and attention!

You’ve done the hard work, let’s look at what you can do while the baby is asleep.

Get Some Downtime

Relaxed parents make better parents, and there are loads of great options to stay entertained, just because you can’t go out doesn’t mean you can’t have fun, host a virtual event.

Haven’t seen your friends in a while why not host a virtual movie night through apps like Zoom or Netflix Party. Choose the movie, call your friends, get some snacks, get in the mood and press play.

If movies are not your thing, then why not host a virtual book club?

When you create a book club, you usually pick a new book every 2-3 weeks and have an open discussion with all your friends about what you thought about the book.

Alternatively, you can organise a weekly team quiz, a pub-style quiz will help stimulate your brain, and stop you talking about nappy brands or how tired you are.

So you have watched all the movies, read the books and beaten the quiz master so what else is there?

What’s Next?

Online gaming can take you into another world, the release of the new PS5 is imminent; for anyone uninitiated, it’s the latest update from Sony. The original PlayStation appeared in the gaming world in 1994, and the PS5 will be the 10th edition of the console.

Along with that, there are loads of new games available: from the traditional fighting and war type games to games like Maquette, a tricky puzzle game that takes you into the world where you must find the pieces of the jigsaw to save the world. Not the most original task, but the graphics are amazing and interaction fun.

Want to go all hero on us? Try the new Marvels Spiderman – new generation game for new generation gamers.

Join an Online Community

Take the time to write that novel you’ve been talking about for years. As they say, everyone has a book in them bursting to come out. Free online courses are available to those budding authors out there. These courses encourage interaction and feedback from other writers; they even have their own hashtag on Instagram and Twitter #writerscommunity. So get stuck in.

Don’t be stuck for ideas or have a problem; you can tackle any issue by joining an online community. Whether it’s a pub quiz, online gaming, book club, or raising contented children, other like-minded folks are always up for an in-depth discussion about the latest trick or hack; always ready to pass on a tip to help you with your problems.

So while you may not be able to go very far right now at least you’ve got fun options, remember you don’t have to achieve anything, just joining in and staying in touch with friends and family is good enough, or go old school and re-watch all 10 series of Friends.

Looking back on these days in the future, you will have some good memories because just like everything else this too will pass, and you will enter a new phase in your lives and before you know it that sleepless baby will be a teenager and never get out of bed before midday!

About Me

Hi! I'm Annie and I have 3 kids (all in their teens - yikes!). My mommy blog isn't all about lunches and DIY - it's also about humour. Like how my kids make fun of my texts as if I don't know how to use emojis (I DO!). Now that I have a bit more time - since my kids don't want to hang out with me (teenagers), I have taken up blogging.
