Mommy’s Ready To Teach You How To Drive

July 30, 2018 by Annie

By the time you reach the legal driving age, it is likely that you will be overly anxious to learn how to drive. Since driving can be a fun activity, most young people request their parents to teach them the requisite skills. While it is perfectly okay for your Mommy to teach you how to drive, it is important to ensure that you drive safely on the roads. This means that taking a Driver Education Course will be necessary, to help you enhance your skills and to earn you a driver’s license which is a legal necessity. According to top CA teenage driving statistics, most accidents result from lack of proper skills due to poor training sessions. Here are a few things your Mommy should cover when teaching you how to drive.

Basic Parts of a Car

One of the first steps when learning how to drive involves getting a grasp of the basic parts of a car. This allows you to be in control once they start driving. In effect, you will be in a better position to remain calm and make sound decisions. Some of the basic parts your Mommy should teach you about include the pedals, the steering wheel, the gear lever as well as the different controls on the dashboard.

Ignition and Moving the Car

The next step covers how to start and move the car. Once you’ve known how to start and turn off the car, you will be more comfortable when moving the car around. Driving a car involves controlling the speed of the vehicle, moving in the desired direction as well as bringing it to a stop. Ensure that you learn how to use the side mirrors which will help you when it comes to looking out for other road users to avoid accidents.

Basic Road Rules and Regulations

As a mother, the main priority is to ensure that the child is safe while on the road. Therefore, it is important for your Mom to take you through the basic road rules and regulations. Such information not only helps you to drive safely but also ensures that you do not get into trouble with the law. In addition to learning the applicable rules, your mother should also make sure that you can exercise good judgment when faced with various situations on the road.

Driving Under Dangerous Conditions

A good mother knows that there are times when every driver will have to drive under dangerous conditions. They also know that certain human and psychological factors contribute to fatal road accidents. This is why your mommy should make sure that you can drive comfortably under conditions such as slippery roads, areas with poor visibility, bad weather and uneven surfaces.

Simple Mechanical Training

Part of being a good driver involves learning how to deal with simple mechanical faults when they arise. Your mom should teach you how to conduct regular safety checks, change a flat tire, replace head or tail lights as well as how to deal with an overheating engine. This kind of basic training goes a long way in making sure that you are safe on the roads.

Getting a Driver’s License

Even after acquiring the required driving skills, one is not allowed by law to drive on public roads unless they have a valid driver’s license. Your mommy should encourage you to join a renowned traffic school to complete a Driver Education Course before you can get a driving license.

Based on top CA teenage driving statistics, human error remains one of the leading causes of traffic accidents. It has also been established that defensive driving courses from approved traffic schools help to reduce the number of such crashes. As much as parents can teach their children how to drive, the importance of taking these courses cannot be underestimated.

About Me

Hi! I'm Annie and I have 3 kids (all in their teens - yikes!). My mommy blog isn't all about lunches and DIY - it's also about humour. Like how my kids make fun of my texts as if I don't know how to use emojis (I DO!). Now that I have a bit more time - since my kids don't want to hang out with me (teenagers), I have taken up blogging.
