An Expert Guide to Holiday Survival

August 29, 2019 by Annie

Holidays can be both fun and extremely tiring but it depends on how one acknowledges it. From the children’s perspective, holidays are more than just fun because for them it is an opportunity to explore and bond. They anticipate and wonder for months how they are going to spend their vacations, with whom they are going to plan trips, and how they are going to celebrate their Thanksgiving and Christmas. The festive season is majestic for them because all they have to do is get engrossed in the captivating sight of twinkling decoration lights, eye-soothing firecrackers, and mouth-watering delicacies.

As people turn into an adult, more emotional drama creeps into their lives, making holidays nothing but a period that reminds them of their miseries. There is so much that people experience while growing up, so what if these holidays do nothing but remind them how a relationship ended on Christmas a few years ago. Apart from this, planning a festive celebration is also a head-spinning job, which is why this post is articulating some ways to survive the holiday season.

Embrace Your Emotions

It is ok to be agonized by thinking about memories that once hurt you. The best thing to do in such circumstances is to embrace the emotions that may creep in. Feeling the pain and experiencing the grief, don’t pull anyone down but elevate one’s spirit to the top. It is like a therapy, which eventually strengthens people emotionally over the years.

Sneak A few Hours for Yourself

Stuffing holidays with taking care of kids, cooking their favorite desserts, wandering around from store to store to get presents, and planning the festive event, deems so exhausting. Making out an hour or a few more to treat oneself is the dire need of today’s adult generation. It can be anything like reading a book, enjoying a show, exercising, or simply going on a solo and peaceful walk.

Don’t Fret to Say No

Getting caught in family drama when one is already taking couples marriage counseling in Croton NY, is worse than a nightmare. Here, people need to understand that it is also ok to say “No” when things go opposite of what they can bear. Managing home, children, guests, and emotional breakdowns, all at once, needs people to be clear of their boundaries. They can make it all less stressful by communicating their feelings and emotions.

Serve Others

What will be wiser than setting up a service project? It is a good way to spend holidays for those who don’t have any companion to enjoy the treats with. Also, serving others can foster in kids the immense feeling of humanity and sacrifice, which they will admire and practice in their life ahead.

Determine Your Budget

Holidays bring with themselves great emotions and affections. Becoming a spendthrift during this period is obvious as people try to serve their loved ones with everything they want regardless of their budget. That’s why it is advised to be precise of the budget before spending your hard-earned money.

These tips can go along with everyone during holidays if people implement them properly. In a nutshell, people should think of their emotions and serve others with their whole heart to survive the holidays seamlessly.

About Me

Hi! I'm Annie and I have 3 kids (all in their teens - yikes!). My mommy blog isn't all about lunches and DIY - it's also about humour. Like how my kids make fun of my texts as if I don't know how to use emojis (I DO!). Now that I have a bit more time - since my kids don't want to hang out with me (teenagers), I have taken up blogging.
