6 Christmas Presents Your Crafting Mom Is Sure to Love

October 28, 2021 by Annie

The holiday season is a wonderful time to give a little something back to the people who mean the most to you — like your mom. She has made Christmas special for you since you were a child, and now is your chance to return the favor. Handmade cards and construction paper wreaths made from cut-outs of your hand were great when you were little. Now that you are older, though, she would love to receive a thoughtful gift from you that matches her interests.

Whether your mom enjoys knitting, sewing, making jewelry or any other crafty endeavor, a gift related to her favorite hobby will undoubtedly make her day. Keep reading to discover a few Christmas presents your crafting mom is sure to love, including diamond painting kits she can use to make her next masterpiece, cutting machines to create specialty designs in paper and vinyl and other personalized offerings.

Diamond Painting Kit

If your mom hasn’t already taken up the diamond painting hobby, this holiday season is a great time to get her started. Like the paint-by-number kits you probably completed as a child, a diamond painting kit allows you to create beautiful artwork by matching colors with symbols. Instead of filling numbered spots with certain colors, diamond painting involves placing colored resin rhinestones in specific places to form mosaic images.

Diamond painting kits come in hundreds of different designs, so finding one that matches your mom’s interests is a breeze. And each kit contains all the supplies necessary to complete a shimmering work of art.

If the diamond painting bug has already bitten your mom, you can help her take her artwork to the next level by gifting her some must-have tools and accessories. A light pad, craft table or ergonomic chair are all excellent options.

Top-Quality Hot Glue Gun

Is your mom still using the same hot glue gun she had when you were a kid? If so, it’s time to give her an upgrade. There are several options on the market, and they come with various features to meet crafters’ needs. When you are looking to upgrade your mom’s old glue gun, a cordless model is a great way to go. For years, crafters were forced to work near outlets that glue guns had to be plugged into. Today, there are cordless models that run on batteries or disposable butane cartridges.

An auto-shutoff feature is another great option found on many modern glue guns. With one of these models, your mom will never have to rush back home because she can’t remember whether she turned off or unplugged her favorite crafting tool. Spend some time researching the best glue guns and you will have no trouble finding one your mom will use for years to come.

A Set of Glass Jars

Think a set of glass jars — like the ones used for canning — wouldn’t make a great gift? Think again! Glass jars are invaluable tools for crafters. They are perfect for storing small supplies like beads and buttons. And with the lids removed, they work well for holding paint brushes, pens, markers, pencils… The list goes on and on! Plus, crafters love using Mason jars in their projects. They are endlessly customizable, and crafty folks can transform them into everything from flower vases and candle holders to light fixtures. Gift your mother a set of glass jars and then just sit back and see what she turns them into. You’ll likely be amazed by the result.

Cutting Machine

Cutting machines are versatile tools that are on every crafter’s wish list. Machines like the Cricut Explore 2 and Silhouette Cameo 4 are capable of everything from cutting vinyl decals to making three-dimensional paper crafts, etching, embossing and more. If your mom does not already have one, she would be thrilled to open one up on Christmas morning!

Today’s cutting machines look similar to inkjet printers but are capable of doing so much more. They cut images and text out of various materials, scan, draw and can be used for an endless array of craft projects. Check out this article to learn more about some of this year’s best cutting machines and how to choose one that will meet your mom’s needs.

Noise-Canceling Headphones

Background noise makes it difficult to focus on crafting. Help your mom out by giving her a nice set of noise-canceling headphones. They will allow her to listen to her favorite music, audiobook or podcast while drowning out distractions.

When shopping for noise-canceling headphones, look for a wireless pair. That way, your mom won’t need to worry about staying connected to her phone or accidentally cutting or otherwise damaging the cord.

A Crafting Class for You to Take Together

No matter how old you are, your mom would love nothing more than to spend a day with you. Make that happen by enrolling yourself and her in a local craft class. Check your local arts center, college or library for upcoming courses. Facebook is a great place to look, too. If you are having trouble finding something, contact an arts and crafts supply store in your area. They may offer classes in-house or be able to point you in the right direction.

Even if you are not much of a crafter yourself, you will have a great time learning something new and making memories with the woman you call “mom.” Taking a class together is an excellent bonding opportunity, as well, and it is a gift that your mother will cherish for years to come.

Closing Thoughts

This holiday season, don’t give the most special woman in your life another boring present . Instead, take her interests and hobbies to heart and come up with a genuinely thoughtful gift she will treasure. Any crafting mom is sure to love the ideas mentioned above, but, of course, those are just a few of the many options available. Give it some thought and you will be able to come up with the perfect return on her investment.

Now that I have a bit more time - since my kids don't want to hang out with me (teenagers), I have taken up blogging.
