Useful Services Worth Hiring to Make Moving House Easier

June 9, 2021 by Annie

Moving house is a big job and can be stressful, costly, and tiring. That’s why it’s worth considering utilizing different service providers. They can help you and your family get settled more quickly and take much of the anxiety about the moving day and the time before and after it. C:\Users\Kellie\Downloads\movable-2507270_640.png

While you have to invest a little money in such services, they pay off big time, especially when you have young children or pets you’re trying to wrangle and re-settle, too. Consider the following services when you next move.

Storage Units

Many people think that when you move, it’s vital to declutter and have less “stuff” to take with you. However, this isn’t feasible or preferred in many situations. You may not have time to go through all your items and, if you’re moving overseas or going somewhere for a limited or undefined time, there’s probably no point taking all your belongings with you anyway.

As such, it pays to hire storage facilities at these times. These units are perfect for keeping some of your household items safe and sound. Research services close to where you live, such as “affordable storage, Los Angeles units” or “storage facilities near me.” You can choose from helpful short-term or even long-term contracts as needed.

Movers

When uprooting your home life and heading off to live in a new property, one of the essential services is removalists to do all the heavy lifting. Hire experienced specialists who regularly move large, heavy, bulky items safely and who have access to sizeable trucks. Trained professionals know how to pack items securely for transit and move them in and out of properties in a way that doesn’t damage premises or belongings.

Always have everything packed and fridges and other appliances turned off well ahead of the time movers arrive, so they don’t have to waste precious minutes waiting around. Plus, obtain all-inclusive quotes covering travel time, insurance, and any other extras you need, so you can budget accordingly.

Van or Truck Hire

If you don’t have much stuff to move, you might decide to handle the physical relocation aspects yourself. Recruit some friends and family to help you on the day, especially with the lifting of challenging items such as beds, dining room tables, couches, fridges, and the like. You’ll likely need to hire a van or truck to transport everything at once, too. This costs money, but it tends to work out economically when you factor in all elements. Plus, you likely don’t have a vehicle that will fit large furniture or appliance pieces anyway.

Ensure you find a vehicle that’s adequate for your needs – it’s better to have room left over than not enough on the day. Ask rental companies if you need a special license to drive the van or truck and if you need to return if filled with gas or take out any extra insurance, etc.

Packers and Unpackers

If you’re flat out in the periods before and after you move, you may want to hire packers and unpackers. These services are particularly helpful if you’re making a significant transition, such as overseas for a new job. Often, companies will pay for these services for their employees, especially if they’ve asked the worker to move somewhere new to take up a role.

Even if this isn’t the situation you’re in, though, it’s worth considering hiring experts to handle packing and unpacking. They can take over the time-consuming role and bring all the packing supplies required for the job with them, such as boxes, bubble wrap, labels, and so on.

Cleaners

When moving, add in the cleaning requirements for your old property and potentially your new one, too, and you can quickly become overwhelmed and burned out. It helps, then, to hire cleaners to get properties spick and span on your behalf. This task is usually necessary to outsource if you’re flying out or otherwise need to travel on your moving day and can’t stay behind or come back to clean the place you’re vacating. Also, if you’ve vacating a rental property, many agencies are incredibly fussy about the state you leave their properties in. Often, the only way to get your security deposit back is to use professional cleaners who know the ins and outs of getting homes to the required state to satisfy property managers.

Some other services you might hire when moving interstate are relocation experts (for international moves) and furniture assembly contractors if you’re buying a bunch of flat-pack pieces for your new home. Plus, you might need pet or child sitters for the day of the move. You don’t have to do everything yourself during this tumultuous time of your life, so don’t wear yourself out trying to.

About Me

Hi! I'm Annie and I have 3 kids (all in their teens - yikes!). My mommy blog isn't all about lunches and DIY - it's also about humour. Like how my kids make fun of my texts as if I don't know how to use emojis (I DO!). Now that I have a bit more time - since my kids don't want to hang out with me (teenagers), I have taken up blogging.
