Creative Career Options for the Naturally-Ambitious

June 19, 2020 by Annie

We all have our own ambitions in life, but for those of us who are more focused on climbing the career ladder than anything else, it can sometimes be hard to know which direction to go in. Knowing you want to be on the top rung of that ladder is one thing; knowing which ladder, or industry, to choose from is another. Here are some useful tips for the naturally-ambitious to find their way in the wide world of potential career success.

Be your own boss.

Being your own boss is something everybody dreams about at some point in their lives, but it’s the rare few who actually achieve it. One thing that often gets in would-be business owners’ ways is getting too tied down in the nitty-gritty. Bosses are bosses for a reason; they have the big ideas and the will to put them into action. One way to fast track your way into becoming your own boss is by outsourcing the more mundane parts of the business to free you up to aim high.

Getting call center software from Bright Pattern, for example, is one way of making sure your customers are listened to well and have their problems dealt with, without needing you to be tied down to a customer service role unnecessarily. They can respond from real phone numbers, via live chat, email, or social media to give your customers great customer experience. Positive customer experiences are vital for a successful company, so why not hand it off to some professionals to do what they do best in ensuring customer satisfaction, while you get on with what you do best?

Sell digital photos online.

If you’ve got a creative disposition and have a good eye behind the camera, then you could be making a nice profit from selling photos online. Either sell more artistic shots as prints in your own shop or sell your images to free use services, like Shutterstock or Unsplash. It’s a great way to make some money on the side while you build up your skills or work to become a full-fledged photographer.

As you build up a collection of photos, it’s a good idea to invest in a digital photo storage device. It works much like a hard drive and makes sure you will never run out of space with virtually unlimited storage on a single platform. You can even simply upload photos to cloud storage, and still have them kept safe on this external hard drive. When photos become your livelihood, it’s an important thing to make sure they are safe and secure, just as with any business assets.

Help others with your knowledge.

Small businesses are often looking for guidance from confident and ambitious people who know what they are doing when it comes to business. Your expertise in your own creative field or industry could be just what they are looking for in a business coach. A good first step in this is taking a coaching certification to help you know how best to help people, but your real asset here is your own ambition and experience. You know how you got to where you are and you can get even further by lending this knowledge to other people.

Not only will you be able to earn well from such ventures from large enterprises, but you can also build a bigger name for yourself in your chosen field once you establish yourself as an expert. Make yourself an authority on best practices and build up a stellar reputation for yourself. Nine times out of ten, reputation can get you in doors that even the slickest CV can’t. Helping other businesses as a coach is like putting good karma out into the world; you can be sure it will come back to help you as well.

About Me

Hi! I'm Annie and I have 3 kids (all in their teens - yikes!). My mommy blog isn't all about lunches and DIY - it's also about humour. Like how my kids make fun of my texts as if I don't know how to use emojis (I DO!). Now that I have a bit more time - since my kids don't want to hang out with me (teenagers), I have taken up blogging.
